Marjorie Taylor Greene is selling t-shirts making fun of people with mpox

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) recently released a new line of merchandise, including a t-shirt mocking those who contract MPOX, the disease formerly known as monkeypox that primarily affected gay and bisexual men during a recent outbreak.

For $34, anyone can own the black t-shirt that depicts three monkey emojis – the first covering its eyes, the second its ears, and the third its mouth.

The shirt reads: “See no monkeypox, hear no monkeypox, speak no monkeypox.” Greene’s name is written on the back.

Greene repeatedly mocked last year’s MPOX outbreak.

In July, she literally said the disease is something to be “laughed at” because it only affects “some people.”

“People just have to laugh at it, mock it, and reject it,” she said, adding that MPOX is a “scam” like COVID-19.

In the same interview, Greene said that “of course, monkeypox is a threat to some people in our population,” Greene said. “But we know what causes it, and that’s pretty much, um… it’s basically a sexually transmitted disease. So it’s not a threat to most of the population.”

Greene was incorrect; MPOX is not a sexually transmitted infection. The disease is spread through direct contact with lesions, prolonged face-to-face contact, touching items like clothes and linens that an infected person used, or via the placenta to a fetus.

In September, she said “no one is concerned” about the disease.

The U.S. declared an end to the MPOX emergency in February, but it seems Greene is still devoting time and resources to making fun of it.
